In Hungarian, a borász (“BORE-ASS” – don’t laugh) is a person who makes bor, i.e. a winemaker. Since countless Hungarians make wine as a hobby, the term borász is generally reserved for professionals, or those who have a borászat, or winery. Pictured above is the borász of the eponymous Szepsy winery, which is widely considered one of the best of in the country’s famous Tokaj wine region.
