We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

Bögre

Mug

Bögre (“BUG-REH”) means “mug” in Hungarian, and is used as a unit of measurement in some Hungarian cookbooks.

One bögre can usually hold 250 to 300 milliliters of liquid. It also equals 250 grams of rice, 300 grams of beans or 170 grams of corn flour, for example.

For related information, see our guide to Hungarian kitchen measurements.
