The Badacsony (“BA-DA-CHON”) wine region is spread at the feet of the flat-topped volcanic mountain that dominates the north shore of Lake Balaton. The high mineral content of the soil and gentle slope makes Badacsony excellent for producing white wines. The best known Badacsony winemaker is Huba Szeremley, who has revived ancient grape varieties, such as Kéknyelű and Budai Zöld.
