Authorities Bust Counterfeit Wine Operation in Southern Hungary
Financial guards raided a wine bottling plant and caught wine counterfeiters in Soltvadkert, Bács-Kiskun County, at the end of last month, reports Vg.hu. A total of 36,000 liters of counterfeit wine, enough to fill a tanker truck, was seized. After questioning the suspects, one person was taken into custody. A small farm where the sugar mash was produced is located near Kecskemét, next to the M5 motorway. Two 30,000-liter underground tanks were discovered, one of which contained 3,000 liters of alcoholic liquid. In a nearby building, nearly 10,000 kilograms of Serbian sugar, in addition to other ingredients and tools used for making counterfeit wine were found. A third suspect was caught at the farm. The fine in the case can exceed Ft 100 million.
